Street Fighter: Legend of Chun Li (Japanese trailer)

Hmm...the trailer for this movie looks ok.  It has to be better than the Van Damme Street Fighter movie from the 90's.  I'd rather see this than Dragonball Evolutions, that's for sure.  But I expect this to be crap as well.  The casting of Kristin Kruek as Chun Li doesn't seem right to me.  But hey, it's Hollywood and that's about how Asian they'll let someone be in a starring role (which is not really Asian looking at all).  Here's the trailer -- judge for yourself...

Is it just me...

...or do Youtube videos load incredibly slow now?  I guess the ability to play HD and high quality videos has really slowed down the load times (for me, anyways).  Even in normal quality, videos will pause to buffer many times throughout.  It's getting annoying.  I can't even watch a 2 minute video without at least 6 pauses.  Hopefully this gets fixed...

Confession

I haven't been to confession in 4-5 years and went today.  I don't like going, but it was surprisingly quick and easy.  Good stuff.  I just needed to go because I pretty much owe it due to all of the good fortune in my life lately.

See you in another life, brotha...

Recently, I found out that an old friend from high school passed away.  I just want to take to time to remember him and wish his family well in this tragic time.  God rest your soul, my prayers are with you.

Paranormal

Finally, it's done!  Taking about a month due to various reasons.  That's why you'll notice continuity problems.

Fun fact: the line "I want my son back!" is taken from the trailer for the movie "Changeling".  That is why it is said that Fofo is a changeling.

To see one of the freaky unexplained murders, see the prequel "Valentine's Day Haunting".

Below is "Paranormal"

Oh yeah, I forgot

In the midst of getting the Rock Band 2 drums with cymbals, I totally forgot about the Christmas carolers yesterday.  As soon as got back from buying said items, a guy approached me.  I thought to myself, "Oh great, it's a Jehovah's witness or something".  But no, he was just a guy wanting to let his Boy Scout troop sing for me.  I said OK.  Another guy rang the doorbell and announced that Boy Scout 505 wanted to sing Christmas carols.  A whole bunch of kids and their parents were there.  They all sang one song and wished us a Merry Christmas.  It was all very nice.  Definitely puts you in the Christmas spirit.  But my mom kept saying, "We need to give them money, that's why they're doing it".  I said they aren't going for donations, but she didn't believe it.  So she sent my niece after them with money after they left.  Needless to say, they didn't take it.  It was all for the celebration of Christmas...nothing less, nothing more.

I treated myself today...

In a totally indulgent fashion, I decided to buy myself the Rock Band 2 drumset along with the Mad Catz Double Cymbal Expansion pack.  Was it selfish of me to buy myself during the holiday season?  Nah, I'm pretty much done Christmas shopping already!

Was it worth buying a new drumkit and cymbals?  (purchase price about $130 w/tax)  Even though I own the Rock Band 1 drums already?  Well, it's hard to say.  I haven't totally gotten used to them yet.  It takes a bit of playing to adjust to using the cymbals.  It is a bit confusing at first when you go from red + yellow then see your first blue note then have to go back to yellow.  You don't know which to hit -- the cymbal or the pad. Having the green crash symbol, on the other hand, feels really natural -- more so than the original green pad on the kit.  Hitting the crash is extremely satisfying.  As for the noise the cymbals make, they are LOUD.  That's a major complaint for me.  They are almost as loud as the thwack made when hitting the original Rock Band drums.  The Rock Band 2 drum pads are definitely quieter than the first ones (but not as quiet as the Rock Band 1 drums with the drum silencers).  The velocity sensitivity is pretty cool.  I don't know how effective this is when playing songs, but you can definitely tell during the Drum Freestyle mode and at the beginning and end of songs.

Again, a totally extravagant purchase for me, especially seeing as I have a perfectly good set of Rock Band 1 drums.

Giddyup N Go Pony...

OMG!  While looking up the "horsie" my niece wanted for Christmas, I stumbled upon a video of it while on Amazon.com.  It is too funny!  You have to bounce up and down for the horse to move -- just watch the video!  Not only does it have wheels, but it has locking brakes, adjustable footrests, easy steering, horse sounds, and a wagging tail!  LMAO!  The music is killer in this clip...haha!

Kamehame...hahaha! Dragonball Evolution movie looks terrible!

Are you freakin kidding me?!?  This is the worst idea to come out of Hollywood in a long time -- a live action version of Dragon Ball?!?  As someone who grew up watching the anime series, it pains me to see such a mockery of it.  This is worse idea than the Van Damme "Street Fighter" movie!  Look at the casting... who is playing Goku?  Totally does not fit the original character.  And don't get me started on Master Roshi...they are sooooooooooo off.  Chow Yun Fat?  Roshi is supposed to be old, bald and short with a turtle shell on his back!  Aaaaaaghhhhhh!!!  And poor Emmy Rossum plays Bulma...has her career reached such a low point that she had to do  this movie?!?  You're better than this Emmy.  I can understand Real World alum Jamie Chung doing this film (hey, she did that crappy ABC Family TV mini-series "Samurai Girl").  And why is this film even being made?  Dragon Ball was popular, oh I don't know, 10 years ago!!!  I think everyone has moved on to either Naruto Shippuudden or Bleach.  If you wanna torture yourself, watch the trailer for the Dragonball Evolution movie below...

It's my birthday...

Yay.

ShamWoW!

So I was at Walgreens last night and while I was perusing the aisles, and what should I see but some boxes of ShamWoW!  Ok, now I always see these commercials and they always claim that these are not available in stores...  well, I just saw these in stores.  Explain that you smarmy ShamWoW guy!

Not a good sign...

If it takes me more than a month (or close to it) to finish a video, chances are that it won't get many views.  The video I'm working on now ("Paranormal") has been in the works for a month or so.  Reason is that I keep having to do reshoots due to problems with continuity, only being able to film stuff on Saturday nights, etc, etc.  The same thing happened to "Insanity in Chaos' Shadow" -- I planned a whole other half to the video, but since someone involved couldn't be in it, I had to make the decision to finish it as an unfinished half.  And the viewership isn't great for that one-- about 280 views :(

The Beatles to have their own Rock Band game

This was officially announced earlier this morning through a press release issued by Viacom's MTV Networks and Apple Corps Ltd.  The Beatles will present their music through via the Rock Band game format.  This is huge news considering that The Beatles' music catalog has not even been licensed to be sold through any online retailers such as iTunes yet, but will be for sale in a video game.  I guess that shows just how much musical games such as Rock Band and Guitar Hero really do have an important role in the music industry.  See the official press release here.  Being an avid Rock Band player and a huge Beatles fan, I cannot wait for this to come to fruition!

Zane Starkewolf Robocall

I know this is late news, but I just heard about it...There was a steamy robocall made for California Congressman hopeful Zane Starkewolf's campaign.  Though it was recalled, many California residents actually got this call.  Whoever thought of this is a GENIUS!  It really stands out, even if it is in incredibly bad taste.  If you haven't heard it for yourself, listen to this clip.  I don't even live in California, but I'd vote for someone who had the balls to actually let this robocall be sent out!

Fofo's Zyrtec Commercial

If you've seen my previous video "Valentine's Day Haunting", you'll remember Fofo.  Now she stars in her very own video - a parody of the infamous Zyrtec commercial.  Check it out here, or go to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QqlbpGuaj1s to see it in higher quality.

"You know that song 'Time in a Bottle'?"

Is it just me, or is this the most overplayed commercial on TV?  Oh you know the one I'm talking about.  Here, let me quote the first few lines:

"You know that song 'Time in a Bottle'?  Well, I've got time in a bottle.  Just by changing my allergy medicine from Claritin to Zyrtec."

No matter what I'm watching, this commercial comes on.  I mean, are people's allergies that bad?  Is allergy medicine that in demand?

Myspace "status and mood"...please quit.

Seriously.  We don't need to know what you're doing every moment of your life.  Wow!  You're going to work? I soooooooooo wanted to know that.  Got plans after that?  Of course you do!  You make another freakin update!  If I post an update of my own, right after you put one up just 3 minutes ago, you IMMEDIATELY put up another update just so you stay on top of the friend status and mood list.  Are you that self-centered?  Are you that egotistical?  Do need that much effin attention?  Trust me, we don't need a play-by-play of your life.  Also, don't fill us in about being with your significant other...especially while you're with them!  If you're having such a great time, why are you online bragging about it?

I'm insanityVSchaos, and I approve this message.

Scratch and Sniff Gnome Ass

After months of not doing videos, I come back with this really short video.  Starring my nephew Sebastian and niece Raven.  It is a parody of the Jonas Brothers' popular Youtube video "Scratch and Sniff Jonas".  Mine is called "Scratch and Sniff Gnome Ass"...get it?  Though on Youtube I simply titled it "Scratch and Sniff".  This took all of five minutes to shoot, and about the same to edit.  Don't worry, I have a longer video in the works.

Insanity in Chaos' Shadow

This video was in the works for 2 or more months.  I originally planned on making a fight scene, but I plans fell through; so all that I have is really half the video.  I still want to make the second half, eventually.  But I needed to go ahead and release this one so I could move on to other projects.

I got all of the sound effects and music from real kung fu flicks.  I just extracted bits and pieces to fit the video.  Doing swooshes and swipes for every punch and swing took a little while to do.  But that doesn't explain why it took so long to release it; I didn't want to release half a video.

Til the next video.  Enjoy!

MTV showing videos again...but screw it up!

I don't watch MTV anymore, but I stumbled across the channel this morning and saw them actually playing a music video!  Which was the whole point of the channel, right?  I thought it was a good move on their part... that is until they started putting little videos of people commenting on the video in the lower left hand corner!  And it lasted almost the entire video!  All of these videos were added to a poll at the bottom as either "Lovers" or "Haters".  I couldn't enjoy the video and the song because of these douchy people talking over it.  Which in my opinion totally takes away from the experience.  This is worse that f'n Youtube... at least on Youtube, you can choose not to read a bunch of a-holes' thoughts on something.  But on MTV, these videos of people's comments are unavoidable.  You can't ignore it.  So much for MTV making a comeback.  Just play the video, please.  By the way, the video was the Ting Tings' "Shut Up and Let Me Go".  I wanted to tell MTV to shut up and let me watch the freakin video.

I declare this year Two Thousand Hate...

That's right.  200Hate.  Because 2008 has been the worst year so far.  Starting on New Year's Day, I just knew that this year was gonna suck.  And guess what?  It has.  Now, I'm not superstitious at all, but looking back at my life, all of the good things happened on odd numbered years.  It's true.  So maybe that's why 2008 sucks--because it's an even numbered year.  Hopefully it won't effect the Presidential race.  God help us all if John McCain wins.

To commemorate the return of new "LOST" episodes...

...I played the cursed numbers 4, 8, 15, 16, 23, and 42.  It would've been cool to win the week LOST came back with new episodes.  Obviously, I lost.  Oh well.  But it's good to have new episodes of LOST to watch again!

I get more love in Cali than in VA...

Don't believe me? There's a new feature in Youtube that tells you where the most people watch your videos from -- by continent, country, even state. And in the US, I get the most views from Cali. Check out the two examples from my two most watched videos, "Wish Ko Lang" and "Neveritt Institute".

(The darker the green, the more views)

That's it, I need to move to Cali. I'm really sick of seein' dixie rebel flags on the back of peoples pickup trucks around here anyhow.

Soliloquy of Chaos

This video contains a bit of stop motion.  Though there are only a few seconds of stop motion, it literally took hours to do.  This'll be the last time I do it...maybe.

I don't expect this video to get many views.  I consider this my "concept" video.  Another way of saying cool video that no one will watch.  :)

References in this video: Home Alone, Risky Business, Ferris Bueller's Day Off (music)

Shaolin & Wu Tang intro: the best kung fu intro ever

I usually don't post videos on my blog page that aren't mine, but I had to share this one...it is one of my favorite kung fu scenes of all time!  They need to remaster this movie on DVD in widescreen format.

Wish Ko Lang parody (in English!)

This comedy video is based on the popular Filipino TV show "Wish Ko Lang" (translated means 'Just My Wish') which airs on GMA Pinoy TV Channel 7.  It is a wish granting show that grants wish for the poor and unfortunate.

The make believe characters of this video are the single father Jhun Tolentino and his two kids, Noel and Jolynn.  They are poor and live in an abandoned shelter.  Jhun cannot find work and has not had a job in years.  Their wish is to have a store to sell items on the street and also for the kids to have new school clothes.

The music at about :38 seconds in is by Disko Dave:

This video was a lot of fun to shoot.  Me, my nephew Sebastian, and niece Jailyn did a lot of improvising on this one.  A lot of the funniest scenes were actually not scripted.  We made it up as we went along!
Also, notice in the tinikling scene where Jhun says they only have one broom -- but you can clearly see another broom behind Noel while they do the tinikling!

I'm not that great at doing a Filipino accent, but I hope it was good enough!
"So don't porget, watch my beejos, subscribe to my Youchube, rate, leabe comments, and add dem to your paborites!"

Bloopers from Disko Dave Geico Commercial

Notice the roll of paper towels in the back during the darker scenes! Thanks to Ingrid for noticing to take it out and also for fixing the lighting!

Disko Dave Geico Commercial

For this video, I teamed up with my brother, Disko Dave.  To hear some of his music go to:

or

We did scene about 6 times to get it right.  The first four, I tried reading from cue cards, but it looked like I was staring way off of the camera.  Also, the lighting was bad.  Thanks to Ingrid for fixing the lighting.  After that, I just memorized the lines and looked straight into the camera.  Much better.  Dave looked towards the camera at the beginning at this time -- the first 4 times, you couldn't even see his face!  Thanks go out to Sebastian (B) for co-directing/holding cue cards.

Way of the Electric Boogaloo

*This video was deleted by me because of a warning from Youtube about copyright issues using a song from the Warner Music Group.  Please see newer post of the widescreen version I posted on Facebook.*

I wanted to do a b-boy comedy video, probably inspired by Jamie Kennedy's "Kickin' It Old School".  I knew I had to incorporate "Breakin' 2: Electric Boogaloo" somehow.  That is how I came up with using scenes from the movie to be b-boy training for "insanity".  C'mon, I love "Breakin' 2", but some of it is kind of silly.  Honestly though, I think it still has a better story than today's hip hop dance movies -- i.e. You Got Served, Stomp the Yard, Step Up 2 The Streets, etc.  All of these movies have kids who compete to win money or get fame, but in "Breakin' 2", they danced for a fundraiser to save a community center.  They did something for the community, not for their own selfish reason.  I guess it's just a sign of the times.

Anywho, I digress.  I definitely wanted the ending to feature my niece Jailyn as the dancer who served "insanity".  I knew that would be funny.

"Neveritt Institute" is my most viewed video?!?

Wow.  I didn't think my Everest parody would get as many views as it has.  And the ratings have been good, too.  I guess people really hate the Everest guy and his stupid commercials.  Mine was the first parody up on Youtube that I could find, but now there are a whole bunch up there.

Note: "Neveritt Institute" is the most viewed video of the insanityVSchaos series, but the most viewed to date is a video taken on my trip to Japan last year called "Harajuku Headbanger".

Blooper video for "Valentine's Day Haunting"

Me and my nephew B are trying to this one scene, but can't.  We just keep crackin' up!

Valentine's Day Haunting

Maybe it's better to be alone on Valentine's Day...

Haha.  I'm sure people are posting nice, sweet, love-filled videos for 2/14 -- but I wanted to go another route and do a comedic horror/suspense video.

"What is that thing?!?" you might be wondering.  It is Fofo, my older sister's old blanket from when she was a baby.  That is why it is so torn & tattered.  Fofo is dressed up in a Tigger outfit.  Nice, huh?

Holy crap!  I just noticed in the mirror scene that you can see the camera!  D'oh!  And in another scene, I'm not wearing the Wii strap on my wrist, even though it was on earlier and pretty much the whole time!  Yikes!  That's what I get for only doing this in one or two takes for a lot of the shots!  And for doing all the directing/editing by myself!

Bonus video: "In the Year 2000: Rockin & Roland"

This is proof that I've been doing stupid videos since at least the year 2000.  "chaos" finds an old video of "insanity" called "Rockin & Roland" -- which I made about 8 years ago.  Rocking out to Limp Bizkit?!?  Wow.  And what a cool No Fear shirt (sarcasm alert!).

And oh yeah: the part where I sing "...in the year 2000, in the year 2000."  is a spoof of the Conan O'Brien skit.

"The Real World: VA"

Had to split the video in two, because Youtube wouldn't let me post it as a whole.

What if "The Real World" decided to only cast one person (a crazy person who can talk to a video version of himself -- I guess that's two people) and put them in just one room?  And put them somewhere as unexpected like Virginia?  Well, this video explains it -- and makes fun of all of the stereotypes and cliches of the so-called "Real" World.

Some "Real World" moments I wanted to parody, but couldn't, are when Stephen ran up to the car, then slapped Irene in the face (my all-time favorite scene!) and the other is when David from the Seattle cast broke up with producer Kira in a truck.

*fun fact* I had a cup of water with me to put on my face to look like tears during the crying scene!

A lot of this was shot out of order.  That is why my hair style is so different from scene to scene.  The beginning scene when they first meet was the last scene shot.  The dance sequences were all done in one take -- with the exception of "Apache (Jump On It)" which was shot twice -- once for the close-up and another for the zoomed out shot.

So many mistakes made here:
-"insanity" claims that they've been there 18 months, but really he was supposed to say 18 weeks
-"insanity" is wearing a white hoodie at the end that is not zippered at the bottom.  I didn't notice it until after the shoot that it was messed up.  I decided to leave it in because it was funny.
-in the scene where "insanity" & "chaos" talk after the break-up of "insanity" and misty, you can clearly see "insanity" pressing a button on a remote to zoom out.
-there are obvious audio mistakes-- this was done to fit certain scenes.  in particular the song "How Am I Supposed To Live Without You"

In progress: "The Real World: VA"...a parody

This parody of mine is quite the undertaking.  I've been working on it since after my second video, "iPod Touch Insanity!".  I have done scenes for it off and on for the past month, holding off on it because I thought it was a little too much like the iPod vid.  I wanted to show some variety before I committed to the Real World parody.

As of right now, the video is about 9:22 minutes long with the first scene and final scene still needing to be shot and edited.  So I'm guessing it will end up between 13-15 minutes long.  I think that'll be enough to show everything I want to do.  Heh.  So stay tuned...

Law & Order: PU (Psychiatric Unit)

This is a highly fictionalized, comedic, loosely-based parody of the tv series 'Law & Order'.  I love the series in all of its incarnations -- the original, "CI", and my favorite, "SVU".  I thought it would be cool to put my characters "insanity" and "chaos" into a Law & Order situation -- mainly the interrogation process.

In a reversal of roles, "insanity" plays the bad guy -- which is necessary because he is insane, and the Psychiatric Unit will go after him.  "chaos" plays the detective from PU.

This parody is not supposed to be exactly like the tv series, and not to be taken seriously.  My whole series is comedy, so it would be a little odd to do a true 'Law & Order' spinoff spoof.

I forgot to change the white lighting setting on my Canon GL1 during the "insanity" sequences, which it looks a little more yellowish/tan.  It really didn't matter too much since "chaos" was in the computer the whole time.  The contrast helps distinguishes which is reality and which is on the iMac.  I honestly wasn't going to keep the fact that "chaos" was on a computer screen  til the end, but it added a little surprise factor to the ending.

The picture of me hugging Pikachu was taken the week of April 21-28, 2007 while I was in Japan.  It was in an arcade at the base of Tokyo Tower.

Oddballs! A Pair of Superheroes! (Heroes parody)

Superheroes really are popular in movies and tv right now, so I decided to put "insanity" and "chaos" in a Heroes parody.  They decide on the team name of The Oddballs...which "insanity" believes make them sound like a weird pair of testicles.  "chaos" has the power of mind control (much like the Matt Parkman character in the show 'Heroes'), but "insanity" is not really sure of his ability.

I came up with the idea while writing other scripts for my series.  Honestly, it started out as an afterthought.  But I quickly realized it was a funny idea, both story-wise and visually (doing an homage to Heroes was something I wanted to do).

Copyright laws are strict these days, it makes you wonder if you can even mention certain properties.  This is why in the video, "chaos" warns "insanity" not to mention 'Heroes' on NBC, the phrase "d'oh!" from 'The Simpsons' on FOX, even the common phrase "gimme a break" -- because it is the Nell Carter sitcom from the 80's, as well as the jingle from the Kit Kat commercials.

In the clip, I am wearing Naruto gear -- specifically Kakashi's.

My nephew, B, helped me a bunch with this video.  He helped with recording and making suggestions.  One major suggestion was the very end where I peek through the door and say "Yeah, baby!  Yeah!".  I did that just to make him laugh (he was saying that all day), but he said it would go well with my whole thing of copyright infringement.  When he said that, I thought it was a great idea.  So thanks again, B!

Here is the Oddballs signal:

Annoying Everest Institute/Everest College guy...

If you've watched tv in the past few months, you've probably seen these annoying commercials from Everest Institute/Everest College (formerly Kee Business College, FMU, Bryman College depending on your location).  It stars some guy with a baseball cap turned to the side, basically it looks like they just picked up some guy off of the street.  He goes on to tell you that you need to go back to school, invest in your future, etc. etc.  Like he's in any position to tell you to make a better life for yourself.  The man looks like a bum.

I took that thought and made a video about it in my "insanityVSchaos" series.  Check it out...

No, I don't have an AOL account

If you've Googled insanityVSchaos, there's a chance you may have came across someone with an IM screen name of insanityVSchaos, plus an AOL email address.  That is NOT me.  I honestly thought this was an original name and no one else would think of it, but it's a small world and someone else was bound to think of the same name as me.

iPod Touch insanity!

Ah, my iPod Touch video.  Easily the most popular of the series so far.  I did get an iPod Touch for my birthday, but my mom gave it as a present early.  That is how I was able to release this video on my actual birthday (December 11).

If you look closely at the scenes of "insanity" looking down at the iPod, you can kind of see the little cue cards I made to read from!  That is why the acting in these parts is really stiff.  From that point on, I started to just memorize the lines.

I had help shooting this video from my nephew, Sebastian, and my 5 year old niece, Jailyn.  Sebastian (or as we call him, B) was responsible for recording my dance sequence, as well as using the flashlight as a spotlight.  Jailyn pointed the flashlight in the scenes, too.

During the singing parts, I had to sing into the computer -- iMovie has a microphone function.  I had to play the instrumental from iTunes, then press record on iMovie while I sang over.  That is why quality wasn't so great for that audio.

At this point, I don't think I can make a more popular video.  It has to this point, 395 views -- compared to the other videos which haven't even hit 100.  My goal right now is to make an even more popular video than this.

Going insane!

This is the first official video for the series "insanityVSchaos".  I originally wasn't going to do a series for this -- the video was supposed to be a one-time deal of me talking to myself in video form.  But after watching it, I came up so many ideas, I knew I had to parlay it into a on-going saga.

There are so many mistakes made here in editing.  I learned a lot from this one video.  The main one was that iMovie sucks while adding custom titles.  The subtitle that plays at the bottom of the screen during "chaos" screen time would only stay on for 5 seconds at a time.  So what I would have to do is cut the video into 5 second segments, then add the subtitle effect to each of them.  Another problem was the audio for "chaos" while he was in the same shot as "insanity".  I turned the volume on my iMac all the way up so it could be heard.  Watching it back, I thought it sounded very condensed.  From then on, I started exacting the audio from the original video and added it to the clip of "chaos" on the computer.

Welcome to the world of insanityVSchaos!

"Talking to yourself has never been so much fun..."

What is insanityVSchaos you ask?  Well, it is the fictional story of a man, "insanity", who believes he can see and talk to a video version of himself.  This is why he is called "insanity" -- because he thinks he is crazy for interacting with a on-screen depiction of himself.  Usually, "insanity" plays the timid, but sensible one.

The other character, "chaos", is the video version of "insanity".  Is he just a figment of "insanity's" imagination?  Is he real, possibly a twin?  Or is he something supernatural?  "chaos" is the more aggressive, outgoing and confident between the two characters.

"So what is up with the title, 'insanityVSchaos'?", you might be wondering.  Originally, it was the title of a mixtape I made back in high school.  What was on it, who knows.  But the name stuck in my head, so when I needed a name for a Youtube screen name, I used it.  There are no spaces between the words insanity, VS,  and chaos.  I just think it looks better that way.

Back in my old days of working in a movie theatre, one of my co-workers told me that a customer said that they saw me talking to myself.  I wasn't, but I thought it was hilarious.  That is kind of how I thought up the whole "talking to myself" thing.

Enjoy your stay in the world of insanityVSchaos!
